Friday drinks at Rakes Liverpool street station …. no standing

This indeed is generally my go-to place. It’s fun, warm and cosy. I always prefer sitting to have drinks. But the majority of people stand throughout while having their drinks. That maybe a cultural thing going to the bar and choosing to stand throughout, while drinking . I can’t imagine going into a bar in Nigeria and standing. Inshort, going into a bar in the first instance is suspect, let alone drinking and standing.

You will be highly suspect believe me. I can just hear the bar tenders themselves saying “madam you no wan seat”… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣…. and their back gossip…. confirming the odd behaviour … to stand at the bar and drink ….

I like to sit and drink…. and ofcourse snack on something. Here lies another cultural differences. Often what you will hear people say is either let’s go out for a meal or go out for drinks. Where my roots are we will say “let’s go out” as we intend to go out for all of the above….. to sit, drink and eat, all at the same time 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Indeed we do have the fancy “drinks” brigades but their drinks is always accompanied by “small chops”. Even the sound of the name will tell you that what they are about to chop is no where near small 🤣🤣😂😂😂😂. I remember the first time I heard the phrase “small chops”…. my sister had to explain that it is indeed …finger food…. in my opinion, a variation.

Indeed our snack is a whole meal on its own 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Washed down by some serious assorted minerals…. need I say, while sitting. So I take this mentality with me everywhere. Whatever the terminology I prefer to eat and drink while sitting. And last night was no different. I snacked on all the snack-ables and I drank ample glasses of my favourite cocktail “negroni”. When I was truly fed and watered, I proceeded to the ladies.

I spent a longer time in the ladies as I was busy admiring the newly refurbished area. You kind of forget that you are in a basement of a building. I loved it to bits. They put a lot of thought into the decoration. Well their magic worked….. I just had to take pictures. Eventually I emerged from the ladies, got ready and left for home. Back to my bundles of joy and blessings….
