So I found the academic aspect of secondary school quite challenging… both London and Nigeria…. just the academic part… I found every other part awesome 💃💃 …. in general i had an amazing experience….
The challenge… back then in school we were made to sit a test every month…. the school had a system of making us sit these tests… then announcing the name of the top and bottom 3 students in each class… in assembly…. oh Lord what a palava for many…. very emotionally traumatising…. some tears… most especially from those who aspired to be top of the class….🤔
Anyway I was indeed a frequent flyer at the bottom🤓… nope I wasn’t the least bothered… no tears from me…. or any of my companions at the bottom🤣🤣🤣 ….
that was the system I met coming from an ordinary low performing… inner city London secondary school…into one of the top grammar schools in Nigeria (accolade👏👏👏👏)…. it was the expected outcome for me…. I had a lot of catching up to do🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️…. quite frankly I’ve never really caught up… but I’ve found and maintained my own lane 😜
…. so moving forward I was very glad when my idea in supporting students at the bottom was accepted…. and has indeed made a difference and touched the life of a young girl struggling academically (remember I have first hand experience) ….
Therefore my award now… every year… starting 2018… to my secondary school in Nigeria… my favorite Alma Mata (I’ve got several)… is for the …. Best Improved Student Award 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾….
So like mst people😎, my secondary school class has a whatsapp group… we pretty much get along giving each other mutual respect… I do appreciate the few stakeholders in the group… they tend to comment no matter their busy schedules … anyway my class girls….
